ABout

Mamatropolis combines oral history, poetic performance, and social space to explore the birth and motherhood transition. It stems from an oral history of mothers in the months after giving birth. It will look at the emotions and expectations associated with motherhood in various cultural contexts within New York.

Mamatropolis Survey

A survey for recent mothers and gestational parents on support, community and emotional well being. Respondents may answer the questions anonymously, and are free to answer as many questions as they are comfortable with.

Artist bio

Samantha CC is an interdisciplinary performance artist from Brooklyn, NY. Her practice fuses movement, experimental video, original soundscapes, and poetic text. Much of her work incorporates science fiction and fantasy aesthetics as a means of exploring the black imaginary, human fragility and the individuation process. She has presented work at Roulette Intermedium, The Wild Project, Secret Project Robot, The AC Institute, Outpost Artists Resources and Superchief Gallery to name a few.
