Simone Johnson: Shades of Blue
CLIMATE JUSTICE FELLOW 2020
Experiment Shades of Blue explored policy, law, design and storytelling as tools of world-building for earth-centered water futures. Simone focused on researching The Rights of Nature, the emerging field of law called Earth Jurisprudence, and the movement to revitalize Indigenous laws in Canada, as well as other intersecting interests. Von Bl3ssing: Green Afrofuturist Project
CLIMATE JUSTICE FELLOW 2020
Concentrating on the racial and class politics of climate change, and their uneven affect on communities of color, Von Bl3ssing seeks ways to transport marginalized people into radical visions of environmentalism, to create stories and studies of and strategies to resist ecological crisis through a 'Green Afrofuturist Project.' Nisã (New York imagined sisterhood for ãrts) aspires to be a mobile education and collaboration platform of visual art, performance, theatre and creative writing for Muslim women-identified participants and educators that travel in the five boroughs of NYC. Read more -->
Samantha CC: Mamatropolis
Mamatropolis combines oral history, poetic performance, and social space to explore the birth and motherhood transition. It stems from an oral history of mothers in the months after giving birth. It will look at the emotions and expectations associated with motherhood in various cultural contexts within New York. Read more -->

OlaRonke Akinmowo: Free Black Women’s Library (FBWL)
The Free Black Women's Library is partnering with a women's homeless shelter/short term residency to install a permanent installation of the library, create a space for the residents to read, writer, draw and gather together. A participatory workshop offered to low-income female youth that emphasizes collaboration through creative movement. A combination of hip hop, yoga, and vocalization, as well as media literacy breakout groups that explore the goddess archetype in contemporary culture, the Diamond Tribe workshop creates a safe space for self-empowerment within a group dynamic.
