Join us for a Wages for Art(work) Co-Working Session, where participants are invited to make art while Associated Artist Quinlan Maggio works at their day job. During this hour-long session, participants can engage in any activity that is creatively generative for them, such as drawing, painting, collage, writing, sleeping, cooking, taking a walk, etc.
Historically, Quinlan has then compensated creative participants at the rate of $40/hour, half of the artist’s hourly wage. In this iteration, tech workers are also invited to participate by co-working and sponsoring a creative participant with half of their hourly wage.
Artmaking materials and desk space will be provided for in-person participants, while those joining via Zoom are encouraged to work with their own materials and creative processes virtually.
About the Artist:
Quinlan Maggio is an artist and tech worker based in Brooklyn, New York. Quinlan makes site-specific installations, videos and objects informed by a constant ongoing practice of performance. Through these mediums Quinlan processes experiences of workplace alienation and solidarity and synthesizes those experiences into artistic works that explore questions of labor and the artist’s studio as a site of production. Through this process of reforming and reimagining our relationship to work, Quinlan creates spaces for collective conversations about work, labor and technology through solo performance, immersive installations, and socially engaged projects.
