TEAR SUTURE SCAB: Within Every Tear, There's a Suture, Every Scar-A Scab (TSS) is a short artistic film that hopes to challenge the way we experience art. A newly created body of work will be disseminated through a fantastical narrative. A Unicorn named Suki, and her sassy shadow Shade, serve as our guides. Suki, with the capacity and desire to resurrect black bodies, reevaluates the meaning of 'hero,' while her shadow, Shade, prioritizes self-preservation as a means of resistance. TSS uses humor in the face of its historical surroundings while leading the audience through one black unicorn's process of self liberation.
TSS is written and directed by Ayo Janeen Jackson, with creative direction and production by Maya Shah (Show Don’t Tell producer), filmed by Michael Cooke edited by Sewra Kidane, starring Marija Abney, Erin Moore, Sarita Allen, Antwayn Hopper and with musical score by the late, great Greg Tate.
