PROJECT : PLAYDATE

We don’t play like we used to. Playdate is an invitation to reconnect with the spirit of childhood, when pleasure, imagination, and self-discovery were abundant. This project is a call to return to and nurture a practice of play, focusing on the transformative power of joy, self-mythology, and communal exploration through community-centered craft-making.

Playdate aims to reignite adults' joy and wonder through play, fostering self-expression and self-discovery. We too often underestimate the formative and enjoyable nature of play in childhood. By intentionally embracing play for play’s sake as adults, we can discover new ways to connect with ourselves that we have lost.

This project empowers participants to explore and shape their personal narratives, embracing self-mythology to reclaim their identities. As author Alyssa Favreau notes, self-mythologizing allows us to imagine a future that reflects our experiences. It's the radical act of looking inward and projecting our ideal selves into the future—of actualizing through dreaming.

'Playdate' creates a communal space where individuals with diverse skill sets support one another in making and creativity. Here, people can learn about themselves while being with themselves, and with others, fostering a sense of community and shared exploration.
